When designing guards for machinery there is a consistent conflict between protecting the employee against dangerous moving parts and production. The following idea for safely guarding a machine, using perimeter guarding in a harsh confined area, has come through direct consultation within the workforce and using the engineering skills within Marshalls Company. What is unique about this project is the flexibility of the design. It can be used in any environment, on any perimeter guarding design, allowing ‘simple’ but safe access when required for maintenance or production activities.
