Aggregates Europe – UEPG represents the producers of primary and secondary aggregates. Recycling of construction and demolition waste (C&D waste) is part of the business model of the industry. While high recycling rates are desired, local availability of suitable C&D waste, quality and trust are issues to be addressed in our dedicated Recycling Task Force. In reality, 70-80% needs to come from primary resources covering the demand of Europe’s economy. Aggregates Europe – UEPG has contributed to and endorsed the EU Waste Management Protocol and promotes the EU waste hierarchy, i.e. waste avoidance and longer life-span of products to avoid demolition and creation of waste in the first round.
