Circular economy

Aggregates Europe represents the producers of primary and secondary aggregates. Recycling of construction and demolition waste (C&D waste) is part of the business model of the industry. While high recycling rates are desired, local availability of suitable C&D waste, quality and trust are issues to be addressed in our dedicated Recycling Task Force. In reality, 70-80% needs to come from primary resources covering the demand of Europe’s economy. Aggregates Europe has contributed to and endorsed the EU Waste Management Protocol and promotes the EU waste hierarchy, i.e. waste avoidance and longer life-span of products to avoid demolition and creation of waste in the first round.
