Respirable Crystalline Silica

Aggregates Europe – UEPG supports the European Aggregates Industry in eliminating or minimising the health risks associated to the exposure of employees to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS).

Crystalline Silica (SiO2) is an essential component of construction and industrial raw materials. Although Crystalline Silica is abundant in nature, the inhalation of some of its finest particles may constitute a hazard related to workplaces. The European Aggregates Industry is taking measures to control the exposure of workers to RCS, improving their working conditions and overall health and safety.

The Aggregates Europe – UEPG RCS Working Group meets twice a year and summons experts on RCS to discuss the latest developments and make collective decisions for the industry.

Aggregates Europe – UEPG is a founding and signatory Member of NEPSI, the European Network for Silica, consisting of Employers’ and Employees’ European associations related to RCS in the workplace.
