Electric site: The initiative is a complete site solution which involves the development of new quarry equipment, autonomous and powered by electricity, and an efficient new way of operating a quarry site. The project was initiated in 2013, by Skanska and Volvo. During the ten-week test period, carbon emissions were decreased by 98 per cent. Furthermore, energy costs have been reduced by 70 per cent and operator costs have been lowered by 40 per cent, together supporting the ambition of achieving a 25 per cent decrease in total cost of operations.
