Cementos Cosmos s.a.

The operation of “Don Isidro” is located in Galicia, in the province of Lugo, in the municipality of Triacastela (Spain). It is an open pit with limestone, operated by blasting in descending banks. After years of surveys and studies, the site is now known to be one of the most important paleontological sites of the Iberian Peninsula, with parietal artistic manifestations corresponding to the Upper Paleolithic era; it is Galicia’s first “sanctuary” of prehistoric art. All the actions carried out to maintain operations with the preservation of the cave’s cultural assets and demonstrate that extractive operations and cultural and natural heritage assets can interact and not only coexist, but also to protect and support each other.
