Sustainable management and positive contribution to the nature and region. Neuburg Siliceous Earth is an industrial mineral that is mainly used as a filler or polishing material. In contrast to other crude materials the deposits are distributed very irregularly and cover a maximum of 10,000 sq m each. Therefore the open-cast quarries have relatively short lifecycles of 5 to 10 years.

Context

For 112 years, the company Hoffmann Mineral from Neuburg on the Danube in Germany has been extracting Neuburg siliceous earth.

Actions

The installation of temporary habitats for yellow-bellied toad, natterjack and other species Restoration of sites.

Involvement in various school projects and holiday programs is offered especially for young people, children and parents and an educational trail.

Tours into the quarry and recultivation sites and into the processing plant are offered annually.
