Tarmac Iberia S.A.U.
Objective
The main objective of the project was to improve and to restore the river area, as well as to restore the small lakes produced by the exploitation. This restoration takes into account the objectives of the Natural Resources Planning of the Regional Park.
Context
The gravel site is located on the even lands of the Jarama river bank, inside the “Regional Park of the rivers Jarama and Manzanares axis” including an inside “Area B” or Natural Reserve.
The sowing and planting of native species vanished off or obviously spoiled the area.
Solution
To use the morphologic suitability of the lagoon to enlarge its shores as well as the relation between surface and perimeter.
To create beaches and shallow waters to encourage the presence of some species.
Result
As a consequence of the restoration carried out into the site, it was created a big area with a high ecological value, proved by its fauna variety and the improvements of the vegetation cover.
This gravel site, once restored, was donated to the Community of Madrid, during a ceremony with the participation of the President of the Community.
The project is finalised and the site is now close, the biodiversity values are still good or even better.
