Case Study

Teunesen Sand und Kies GmbH

Weeze, Germany

Since 2013 the company has been developing and implementing measures supporting the survival of wild bees and honey production in cooperation with the regional association of beekeepers. For instance, at the company’ sites were carried out targeted restoration measures for the benefit of bees. The project was presented to Weezer schools and kindergardens in 2018. The involvement of the public and numerous press articles raises awareness to neighbouring towns and other companies to develop similar projects. A constant monitoring of the food sources and nesting opportunities during the coming years will enhance the continuity of bees’ habitats. In addition, a new project “Nature and Environment Protection” for secondary schools in the district of Kleve is expected.
